YUVA is looking for a Field Convener to work under its “Unorganised and Right to Work” program at Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Vacancy for the post of ”Field Convener”
Youth for Unity and Voluntary Action (YUVA) is a voluntary development organization founded in 1984 with a goal to intervene in issues of social justice. YUVA empowers the oppressed and the marginalized by facilitating their organizations and institutions towards building equal partnerships in the development process ensuring the fulfillment of their human right to live in security, dignity and peace. The Organisation is accredited as an NGO with General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
YUVA is looking for a Field Convener to work under its “Unorganised and Right to Work” program at Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Position Will be responsible for :
● negotiating with the local Municipal Corporation for the implementation of the National Street Vendors Policy in Nagpur
● organising the informal sector workers to lobby for the passing of the National Social Security Bill,
● building of the organisation and federation of Informal Sector Workers (Assangatith Shramik Panchayat) in Vidharbha region.
Informal sector workers would include hawkers, construction workers, rickshaw drivers/pullers, ragpickers and domestic workers. Work would also include building linkages of livelihood and social security with other sectors of housing rights, women's rights, youth rights, etc.; building governmental partnerships, networking and city wide collaborations for all of the above.
Educational Qualification and Experience: Post graduation in Social work or other such developmental field. Should be able to manage community level Dynamics. Should have effective communication skills.
Marathi, English, Hindi with a good verbal and written communication, report writing, documentation and preparing presentation. Should be comfortable using computers.
Location: The person will be situated in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Salary: Negotiable depends on experience and competence.
