Inauguration programme
With this challenge in the backdrop, in August ‘2001, the Centre was established, to concretize its commitment towards capacity development for the strengthening of civil society. Based on the theme ‘Deepening democracy’ we aim to use various capacity development models as tools for empowerment.
The culmination of our learning in this field for the last 17 years and mobilizing people’s movements has crystallized into the creation of the Center. It is built on 1500 Sq. m of land allotted by CIDCO at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.
The complex is not a mere brick and mortar structure. Conceived as a place for collective learning, actions and reflections based on the human rights framework, YUVA Centre is a Training cum Social Welfare Centre. The constant emphasis being on knowledge, skills, attitude, perspective, and self-awareness.
The Center, inaugurated by Dr. Armaity Desai (Ex-Chairperson of University Grants Commission and former Director of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences) welcomes NGOs, Community based organisations (CBOs), Government bodies and citizens to join hands for a common cause of empowerment of the society.
